Clinical documentation improvement (CDI) is an integrative function in every healthcare facility. Organizations embrace this concept in the initial implementation phase when various members of the facility serve on the CDI committee. Members of the original CDI group should continue to be included in the communication loop long after the initial CDI implementation is completed. The CDI manager should work with managers from denials management, compliance, and health information management (HIM) to design data reports that are generated on a regular (weekly or monthly) basis.
